About An Tigh Maiseach
An Tigh Maiseach was built by its owners after they fell in love with the beauty and mystery of the Isle of Skye, so that they could relax and enjoy the tranquil peace of this magical part of the Scottish Highlands in the warm comfort of a luxury cottage built to high modern standards. The build has only recently been completed and you, too, can share this experience for a week or more almost all year round.
We want you to share our Skye experience by escaping from the pressures of daily life and by experiencing for yourself what it is like to take each day as it comes... whether you choose to plan an active holiday by searching out all that this beautiful Scottish island has to offer, or simply unwinding and relaxing in comfort, An Tigh Maiseach is your private Highland retreat, for one or more weeks or (in the low season) perhaps a short break – minimum four days – whilst you take a break from your usual routine.
The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be...
Anne Frank (The Diary of a Young Girl, 1947)
An Tigh Maiseach not only complies with the requirements of the Building (Scotland) Regulations 2004, which govern all new buildings and make stringent requirements in relation to energy efficiency, but also goes much further. It is insulated well beyond legal requirements, and energy for the underfloor heating is provided by a ground source heat pump, using over 170m of pipework buried over a metre deep under the land to the north of the house. For every unit of electricity used by the pump to provide heat, the equivalent of another three units is extracted from the ground with no impact whatsoever on the environment.
Although built to comply with Planning rules about maintaining the external look of a traditional build, the inside of the cottage is thoroughly modern and provides every home comfort that you might require during your stay.
